Ik neem het geloof van de ander serieus; dat het meer is dan filosofie of methafysica. Maar als Joden en de vroege christenen de huidige kennis hadden gehad van de kosmos, de aarde en de ontwikkeling van het leven, dan was er nooit een godsdienst geweest. Het argument dat religie het draagvlak is van onze normen en waarden is  kwaadaardig zowel als lachwekkend wanneer we de geschiedenis bekijken en de  balans van het nu opmaken. Mijn standpunt is dat religie niet ethisch of moreel is.
